If I have never kayaked before can I do a tour?

These trips are designed specifically for people with little or no previous experience. We begin each tour with a brief beach instruction, which covers all the basics to get you started on your guided adventure. Our goal is to introduce you to the beauty and wildlife of the island, not a paddle marathon. We want to make sure everyone has a great time because we want you to want to kayak again! Please let us know if you have any specific concerns so that we may suggest the appropriate trip for you.

What if it rains?

We are fortunate to be an island out to sea, which does not have the same weather patterns as the mainland. The limited rain that falls in summer rarely lasts long and it usually creates some of the most beautiful kayak trips of the season. We won’t cheat you out of the experience because of a little rain, feel free to bring a raincoat or borrow one of ours!

Island Spirit will not commence the tour if there is a threat of lightning or heavy wind. In the case of extreme weather, you will not be charged and hopefully have the opportunity to reschedule your trip if your itinerary allows.

Do YOU have tandem kayaks?

Yes! We have single, tandem and family kayaks available. Let us know your preference when booking and we will make sure we have your choice available for you.

What is the best tour for our family?

Our half day and moonlight/sunset paddles are the best choice for most families. The adventures are 2.5 hours and take place in protected areas where the island’s beauty and sea life are the main attraction. We usually play a game of Kayak Ultimate Frisbee on the move as well, a hit with the whole family!

What is your Cancellation Policy?

48 hour notice required on all cancellations or rescheduling.

72-hour notice is required for groups of eight and larger.

We have to be pretty consistent about this:

Once you book your trip with us we hold the spots you have reserved. Considerable time, money, and staff preparation goes into creating our kayak tours; therefore we need to know you are going to show up.

Please let us know as soon as possible if you are not able to make your reservation.

Do I need a reservation?

Yes, all of our tours require a reservation. There is a certain amount of preparation needed including getting the boats ready, staffing guides, preparing snacks, Therefore we need to plan accordingly for you! Our tours do depart from different locations around the island, if you show up unannounced there may not be a tour departing from where you are.
